Application of Bax Normilasation in Saudi Arabia: The how!"

Stephan Bax argues that, "Our aim should be to attain a state of `normalisation' in which the technology is invisible and truly integrated"

In the article CALL-past, present and future which is written by Stephen Bax offers a critical examination and reassessment of the history of CALL, and argues for three new categories - Restricted , Open and Integrated CALL. Stephen Bax suggest changes and means proposed of achieving normalization. He require to use computer in classroom practice and in the syllabuses to facilitate and improve learning. Also , there should be training programs that can help teachers and students to use computer in a correct way . Finally, he require fuller integration into administrative procedures and syllabuses.  In order to achieve normalisation CALL should be invisible, serving the needs of learners and integrated into every teachers' everyday practice.

Saudi Arabia is a modern country that has a lot of  abilities and  achievements . Also, the education systems is  progressing  over time . So, I think It will not be difficult to  achieve normalisation.  But first we have to do many changes in the education systems.  First of all, computers should be use in classroom context as a tool to improve and facilitate learning. Second, teach students to use communication web sits as twitter and face book to communicate with the teacher.  Finally, provide schools and universities with equipments such as  projector, smart board and laptop.

  3. Dear Amal,
I agree with Sondos. KSA is a developing country, but a very rich one, indeed. However, to make the use of technology invisible is not going to be an easy task. A change of attitude of all the sides of the parties involved is seriously required. I hope this will be achieved fast to be able to start the next phase: integrating technology in all our schools.
    Best,
    Dr. Hala
